Academic Performance

Supporting students to achieve, think independently and fulfil their potential

Our school offers the NZCSE New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education which is a university entrance level 3 award. This internationally recognised qualification allows us to offer the full breadth of the Steiner Waldorf curriculum up to age 18.

This qualification is achieved over a four year period and is ideally completed as a ‘one exit’ course where students begin with the foundation year in Class 9, and finish at Level 3 in Class 12. It is possible however for students to join later (in classes 10/11).

For some students, the wish arises to complete their education at SDSS at the end of class 10 with the view to transferring to a sixth form college. As such, in addition to the NZCSE qualification, we also offer GCSE tuition and examinations in English Language and Maths to ease this process. SDSS is registered as an exam centre with AQA. Examinations are completed during Class 10 and whilst not compulsory, all students are encouraged to take them.

The academic performance charts below summarise our results for both NZCSE and GCSE qualifications. GCSE qualifications recommenced in the 2022/3 academic year.

NZCSE qualification key: Ach = Achieved, HC = Highly Commended, Dist = Distinction NA = Not Achieved.
